Right then. I’ve officially embarked on my grand and glorious quest to get Nomadhut to show up when someone types something like “coliving spaces in Tenerife” into Google — ideally before they give up and go to a sponsored ad or get distracted by flight deals (or a squirrel).
This week’s exciting progress includes:
- Signing up for Google Search Console.
- Installing Google Analytics, so I can now track my traffic (all 7 visitors so far, 3 of whom might be me… feeling the startup pains again).
- Adding the Yoast SEO plugin to our WordPress site, which helpfully tells me all my posts are too short and have no keywords, and that I write like an overexcited Labrador. Thanks, Yoast.
I haven’t caved to the premium version yet. I’m not entirely convinced it doesn’t just say “your SEO score could be better” in slightly more patronising tones. But hey, if it gets me to rank above that one coliving spot that hasn’t updated their website since 2012, maybe it’s worth it.
What’s next? I’ll be regularly posting updates, useful content (eventually), some of which will possibly become memes in years to come — all part of the master plan to gently nudge Nomadhut into Google’s good books. And if you happen to Google “coliving spaces in Tenerife” and see us somewhere in the results (even page 3), please let me know so I can break out the cheap cava.
Wish me luck, or at least backlinks.

P.S. If you’ve got any SEO tips, plugin suggestions, or just want to point out broken links and typos, I’m all ears. This is very much a DIY affair.
08/06/25 Updated the URL structure
So originally the format was date elements and then postname, so I’ve edited that to category and postname. However, the downside to that is that now google perceives that as duplicate content according to the “search console” data (even though the old format versions no longer exist, at least I can’t find them in the backend of wordpress CMS).
