Why the Canary Islands?
We’ve chosen the Canary Islands as our first destination for their unbeatable combination of winter sun, affordability, and vibrancy:
- A Year-Round Draw: Nearly 15 million visitors annually, with a growing community of remote workers.
- Affordability: Attractive real estate prices compared to mainland Europe.
- Inspiration: Stunning natural beauty and cultural richness make it an ideal hub for creativity and exploration.
The Market Opportunity
The world is shifting towards flexible work and lifestyle solutions, and Nomadhut is perfectly positioned to meet this demand. Consider these trends:
- The number of digital nomads surged by 96% between 2020 and 2022.
- Flexcations are on the rise, with 30% of Americans planning to combine work and travel.
- Demand for short-term rentals in Europe’s top cities grew by 25% in 2022.
Nomadhut taps into these global shifts, offering a seamless blend of living and working solutions for a growing audience.
Why Invest in Nomadhut?
- Growing Market: Remote work is here to stay, and demand for innovative spaces is only increasing.
- Unique Offering: Unlike sterile coworking chains, Nomadhut is rooted in character, community, and sustainability.
- Proven Commitment: With personal funds invested in our first location, we’ve already taken the first step in realizing this vision.
- Scalability: Each location is crafted uniquely, but the process is repeatable—acquire, refurbish, and create thriving spaces.
What Makes Us Different?
While many spaces focus solely on function, Nomadhut balances practicality and personality. Our designs are bespoke, reflecting the local environment, and our ethos is centered on fostering human connection.
We’re not chasing rapid growth. Instead, we’re building something lasting—spaces people love, remember, and return to.
Our First Step: Tenerife
Our first building in Tenerife is a modest start, funded entirely by personal investment. This project will prove our concept: transforming an overlooked property into a vibrant, multi-functional space.
The Plan:
- Purchase and refurbish the building (estimated uplift: £40,000 → £250,000).
- Use the value increase to secure a mortgage, creating a warchest for the next property.
- Expand thoughtfully, balancing creativity with financial sustainability.
Future Growth and Collaboration
As Nomadhut grows, we’ll explore partnerships with asset owners and management companies to expand efficiently. While large corporate partnerships can be complex, we’re open to collaborations with those who share our vision and commitment.
Sustainability at Our Core
We’re committed to eco-friendly practices, from construction materials to daily operations. Every decision is made with an eye toward minimizing environmental impact and maximizing community benefit.

First draft: the final AI edit above was devised based on my initial ramblings below.
Imagine a network of innovative spaces where individuals can seamlessly blend work, life, and creativity. Folks welcome to my nutty mind and Nomadhut, a unique collective of multi-functional spaces designed to redefine the way people live and work. We offer a comprehensive solution, combining accommodation, small offices for early stage companies, makerspaces, and coworking cafes all under one roof. A landing pad to explore out from.
I need to raise £1m and possibly take on element of debt.
What type of buildings am I interested in:

Why the Canary Islands first: Winter sun, affordability in comparison to mainland Europe, and nearly 15m visitors per year… compare that to London which has 30m visitors, so I think the Canary Islands in terms of £ per sq/m is amazing.
The first building is tiny in comparison, as I’m using every penny I own to buy and refurbish the building without investment, but I hope this shows my commitment to the idea and the vision.
Our spaces won’t be repetitive (you might ask how does it scale then?), only in feeling they create, crafted to cater to the evolving needs, fostering a dynamic environment that inspires collaboration, productivity, and personal growth. From digital nomads to local professionals, Nomadhut is a mini ecosystem that’ll support diverse lifestyles and work preferences.

In order to achieve the price point I want to charge we most likely have to own each building… this is therefore going to be slow growth. This isn’t going to be a quick 10x business, so if you want to get rich quick please find another investment opportunity.
Have I done a detailed business plan, “no”. If you’ve ever started a business you’ll know roughly how things go, you’ll know what you’re doing, but equally know that it’ll require numerous tweaks and pivots on its journey.
I’ll get Tenerife open and operational, I’ll then attempt to mortgage the building at it’s new value, hopefully the original purchase price of £40,000 will become closer c£250,000 and once mortgaged I’ll have a warchest of c£150,000 for building number two… (this is all hypothetical). Even then it’s still peanuts in the property world, and I’ll be overly trying to make a good idea work in less than perfect places. So at this point I would love to find investors, that’s the only way we’ll be able to grow at any sort of reasonable pace and ensure location, location, location.
There is potentially opportunities to work with asset owners / large asset management companies, if they’ve got space and like the concept and are willing to consider joint ventures / revenue share possibilities, but working with large corporate institutions is a slow process and entrepreneurs tend to get lost in the process, so I’d need to see some political will from senior management to push things along before overly committing my time and energy. I think it might work well if they’ve ended up with an asset that is different to their usual market proposition.
In 2020, the digital nomad workforce experienced a remarkable 96% surge, skyrocketing from 3.2 million to 6.3 million traditional workers embracing a remote lifestyle (source: MBO Partners).
It’s projected that a substantial 73% of all teams will include remote workers, highlighting a continuous rise in the 6.3 million figure.
Currently, 30% of Americans are planning coworkations, but the available supply has yet to meet the increasing demand. In 2022, demand for short-term rentals in Europe’s top 50 cities spiked by more than 25%, as reported by AirDNA.
The trend of remote workers seeking opportunities to travel and work remotely is set to expand further. This year, 43% of millennials and 38% of Gen Zs are planning to embark on flexcations, taking advantage of the flexibility offered by remote work.
